Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s will be the second cricketer after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to receive the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. The wicketkeeper batsman who led India to T20 World Cup glory last year will receive the country’s highest honour for a sportsperson.
Apart from the Twenty 20 world cup, Dhoni has also led India to victory in the Tri Series against Australia and Sri Lanka. Unfortunately though, India under Dhoni, lost both the finals in the Kitply Cup against Pakistan and Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka.
The official announcement of the award will be made after August 20th 2008.
